Gameday Makeup Tips

Its official, football season has finally arrived! Football BABEs know how exciting gameday can be but getting ready can be quite a process. In addition to selecting the perfect outfit, the right makeup is a key factor to standing out in the crowd. Going to a sporting event also entails countless hours of tailgating and often spans from day to night so long-lasting makeup is essential. There is an art to keeping your makeup daytime fresh and night-time ready and we’re here to give you a few pointers.

1. A good moisturizer with SPF is the first and most important step. Face Stockholm’s mineral tinted moisturizer gives great coverage without looking too heavy and the SPF 20 provides some protection from the sun. It’s also oil-free and hypoallergenic! Laura Mercier also has a great tinted moisturizer.
*Tip: Always let moisturizer sink in for 5-10 minutes before applying your makeup.

2. Next up, is concealer for dark under eyes or any spots that need additional coverage. Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof concealer is a great, full-coverage, long-wearing option while Murad Acne Treatment Concealer is a wonderful covering and treating concealer.

3. For powder, choose something that gives great natural coverage with a long wearing matte-finish (you don’t want to look shiny so avoid shimmery powders for daytime). Natural is key to gameday makeup because in outdoor lighting heavy makeup can look harsh. We suggest using a mineral foundation powder like Face Stockholm Mineral Powder Foundation with SPF 15 or Bare Escentuals Matte Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15.

4. Every girl looks better with a little color so a light sweep of bronzer followed by a little blush will give you that perfectly sunkissed look. We suggest Nars Laguna Bronzer and Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush (it comes in beautiful colors and will last all day).

5. To really keep your makeup lasting all day, a setting spray such as Model in a Bottle or Urban Decay All Nighter does the trick. But definitely use this before doing your eye makeup or you will have mascara running down your face.

6. A long-wearing smudgeproof eyeliner such as Maybelline Unstoppable or Stila Smudge Stick is a great option for eyes. Don’t be afraid to play around with a little colored eyeliner, too! Eyeliner and shadow are an easy fun way to add a little team spirit to your face as long as you don’t overdo it! For shadows, MAC hands down has the best pigments and largest array of colors.

7. Waterproof mascara is essential for days where you need your makeup to last longer than usual. No one wants raccoon eyes! Diorshow Waterproof Mascara, L’Oréal Voluminous Waterproof, and YSL Everlong Waterproof Mascara are all great options.

8. For lips, don’t overdo it. Use a colored lip balm or swipe on some gloss and you’re good to go. Bold colors are great but for sporting events it’s best to stick with a more natural lip. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment comes in an assortment of colors, hydrates, and provides SPF 15.

*One last tip: For gameday touch-ups, rather than using powder, which starts to cake after reapplying too much, try blotting papers to get rid of excess shine and add a bit of concealer to areas that might need more coverage.
